Vance.jpgHi folks,
Webheads tonight at tapped in (regular noon GMT) got really enthused about next week's Webheads tenth anniversary uncelebrations. It's uncelebrations because that sounds peer to peer like unconference. We set up a wiki at http://webheads10years.wikispaces.com and we invite you to go there and write in your ideas for our celebrations. There is no password, anyone should be able to edit.
We'll try and organize some events starting perhaps Sept 13 and culminating in our tapped in chat next week. We'll try to have an eclectic mix. Of course, this will all be self-starting, so please visit the wiki and start something (ok to create a space and put a link from the wiki to your space).
The tag for the unevent is webheads10years.
Look for tweets and mashups to start appearing shortly, and more information about what's on.
Join us, all welcome,

Hi everyone.

We need more voices on our anniversary VoiceThread at <http://voicethread.com/share/187383/>http://voicethread.com/share/187383/ :-)

carlaarena.jpgDear all,
I'm sure there will be wonderful things created by Webheads all over. Here's my idea to add to this celebration. How about if each one of us record a video (less than 90 sec) to be posted on Flickr, take a photo, or share one that represent the True Webhead Spirit for you and share it with our Webhead group in Flickr? It would be fun to see it there. We could all add the tag * webheads10years* to it.
Remember to "add to group" your production. Join us there: http://flickr.com/groups/webheadsinaction/

Hi webheads,
The task (a fun task, not an onerous task) I have set for myself today is to connect to as many webheads as possible via YM or Skype, during the 24 hours leading up to tomorrow's chat at Tapped In. I hope I won't bother you if I call you out of the blue! If you are not on my contact list (most of you are not), feel free to ring me. My ID on both YM and Skype is nina_liakos.
Of course if several people are chatting at once we can have a conference (if I can remember how to set it up!).
I will be on and off line between now and tomorrow 12 gmt. (Real life also calls....) I will try to remember to change my status when I am afk but please forgive me if I forget.
I am going to keep a log of how many people I chat with. How many do you think it will be? Is anyone up for a contest?
Cheers from beautiful sunny Maryland,
Nina Liakos

Ninaatwork.jpgThe Happiest Birthday to all the Webheads around the world!
My bow low to the Father of the best e-community around the globe - Vance!
My entering the e-family has changed my life, my ideology and outlook. You all help me to grow professionally and help my colleagues and friends who haven't been in the community yet, but they learn a lot from my experience.
Today, I'd like to mention again and thank a lot my Chinese friend - Yaodong - who was the first who introduced WIA to me in 2002.
I'm thankful to many webheads who were so much helpful during these years. This might be a very long list: Gladys Baya, Teresa, Carla Arena, Mary Hillis, Dennis Oliver, Nina Liakos, Ana Maria Menezes, Hala Fawsi, Cristina Costa, Berta, Jane Petring, my dear friends - scholarship recipients, whom I met f2f at WorldCALL 2008, in Japan, and many many more (actually, all of you - dear webheads).
With warmest regards,
Nina Lyulkun

Happy birthday Webheads!
I am glad that I met this wonderful community more or less one year ago. I have learned a lot about the use of Web 2.0 tools in education since then but I have also met a a whole bunch of lovely people who are always willing to help one another.
Thank you very much for everything.

Happy Birthday, Webheads!
Thank you, Vance, Michael, Maggie, Yaodong, Sus, Elizabeth, Tere, Daf, Aiden, and the rest of all of you, Webhead colleagues and friends for everything we learned, together!
The link below takes you to a page with something I said earlier, in 2003 about my learning experience from and with the Webheads, which I'd like to repeat today on this lovely occasion, (please note that it was before the announcement of the "Connectivism Theory", by George Siemens in 2005):

Much love to all of you :)

What's a birthday celebration without some music?! This video shows that the word wikki was in use back in 1983:
Happy birthday!

Happy Birthday, Webheads!
Let me join the crowd of celebrators from Hungary. :)
Unfortunately so far I have kept a low profile here among this amazing group of professionals but now I feel obliged to say thanks to you all for constantly providing such a wealth of information on pedagogy and ICT. I try to do my best to disseminate the information I gather from this list and to spread the innovative and creative teaching practices among my fellow colleagues here in my country.
A special thanks goes on this day to Vance Stevens, the founding father of this community.
Long live Webheads and many happy return of the day! :))
Warm regards,
Bli <bleiva2003@yah.... >Mon, Sep 15, 2008 at 1:28 AM
Congratulations to all Webheads, especially to Vance who started it all, Daf and Tere for their Becoming a Webhead EVO workshops, and Gladys for starting the year round LwC. There are so many people I would like to thank who have changed my professional world around (and my personal world as well) ...... they know who they are ;-) I am sure of that. Thanks dear friends.
Like in the case of Jano, I have also kept a very low profile in most groups, especially this one, and I think I qualify for a "lurker" kind of nomination or something, ha, ha ... I have not attended not even one of the Tappedin wonderful weekly meetings as they overlap with Sunday visits to my mom; but I know doors are always wide open here and in many other sites where the Webhead family rules.
All the best to all of you.
Muchos cariños

Jane_Petring.jpgJust wanted to send my belated webhead birthday greetings as well! Thank you so much Vance, Daf, Tere and the early team for not only getting webheads started, but for being so unbelievably generous in promoting its growth and fostering such a marvelous caring, helpful, and FUN international family. Even when we're quiet, we're constantly learning through lurking.
Lots of hugs,

Thanks to Jane for saying the things I have wanted to say! I feel very lucky to be part of this wonderful community, and I'm grateful to you all !
Happy belated webhead birthday !!!
Lots of hugs,

Just to say happy 10th anniversary and thank you so so much for making such a huge difference to my life in the few months I've been here! I dare say I'm the most lurking of lurkers. I read everything (or almost) and profit from your contributions a lot. Thanks for being such a caring generous bunch! Ah! Congratulations on the wiki you have created! It was a pleasure to hear Michael's song.

To all Webheads

Vance.jpgThanks to everyone who was there at WiZiQ last night and at Tapped In and who wrote in the wiki at http://webheads10years.writingmatrix.com and spoke to the voicethread and heard Michael sing and lurked on the list and contributed in any way to Webheads over the past ten days, ten months, or ten years.
ALL our lives and practice are greatly enriched by ALL of us being here.
The recording from WiZiQ hasn't materialized yet. I think Nellie wrote them about it. It's supposed to be here http://tinyurl.com/wiziq10yrs
Dennis left a list of participants last night in my YM Offline messages and rather than lose it (when I close YM) I thought I'd preserve it here.
If you can update it please do. Probably we should write it somewhere in the wiki.
Thanks again to all of you who even read this list, we really appreciate your being here ...
Ten years wiser but still having F.U.N.

Hi Webheads - hope you got a good virtual party. As you may remember - I am still a bit of new here - but - like from a distance which is quite near: let's keep: YOU are GREAT.
Just to point out another great thing: Dave Truss just posted very inspiring work - which i recommend warmly. But listening to the tweet - some of you got it before! :-)
Here it is: http://tinyurl.com/6yaodb.
Warm greetings from the now cold Germany

john.jpgThe great and good news is that Webheads have accomplished things nobody on the planet could have imagined just one generation ago. Not only have you lead the way for use of the new tools from Prague to Perth and from Anchorage to Argentina, you have networked so successfully that hundreds - if not thousands? - have formed new friendships that will last a lifetime. It's just not possible to for me to applaud you any more vigorously I mean this with all my heart and soul.
Are there any dark clouds to all of this? Maybe.
With all of your accomplishments, both individually and collectively, one would think there would be an absolute stampede for classroom teachers all over the world to follow your lead. Instead, in way, way too many schools and classrooms, in way, way too many places, there remains deep resistance -- not because of economic hardships, but because of the fear that comes with big change.
Of all of our institutions -- business, government, science, academics -- one would think that "change" would come most easily inside the world of education. In fact, I think the opposite is true. How sad.
In any event, my hat is off to all of you; that loud noise you hear coming from the great Northwest of America is me clapping; the message I really, really, really want to offer here is that I am extraordinarily proud to have met many of you -- and that in each and every case those meetings have added to my profound regard for all of you.
Congratulations on your 10th Anniversary. It's been one hell-of-a-ride, fueled by a powerful, powerful engine called Webheads.

tn_Hala_Fawzi.jpgVery thoughtful indeed, John!
Although the distance should have kept us a part, but all keeps all in the heart.
Your words come from your deep heart, John.I can't find the exact words that could convey what I feel towards webheads, and how proud I am of being one of them!
Thank YOU goes to EACH webhead around the globe!
To Vance, Dafne, Teresa and all!
Greetings from deep Africa!
